Hey, I’m Lesley.
I’m the woman who stopped calling collapse “stress,” burned the whole structure to the ground, and rebuilt a life that actually fits the woman I am.
I created Fireproof because I could not find one person telling the truth about what leadership actually costs women in midlife, or how to change it without losing everything.
I was done with the pastel side of the internet and the endless onslaught of wellness trends designed to convince you you’re broken so they can keep you on the hamster wheel of healing.
At 39, I was perimenopausal, exhausted, and convinced I was losing my mind.

I was a lecturer and a single mum in a toxic workplace, mid-pandemic, rebuilding after an abusive relationship. It wasn’t one big dramatic event. It was a series of a thousand tiny paper cuts accumulated over decades.
Brain fog in rooms where I used to be razor sharp. Anxiety and racing thoughts at 3am, then teaching like nothing was wrong. Bone-deep tiredness while still being the one who held everyone up.
I wasn’t just leading. I was the beam holding the entire structure in place: my team, my kids, my household, my students, the emotional climate of every room I walked into. Everything ran through me and I’d become great at performing competence. But the beam was cracking.
So I stopped patching it. I burned the whole structure down.

I quit my job. I built a business. I started again. I moved to Barbados in a global pandemic with my toddler because I had finally run out of reasons to keep choosing “safe” options that were killing me.
In Barbados I made a decision that changed my entire life: my non-negotiables were mine to define, and everything else was up for renegotiation.
That’s the backbone of my work now. I have worked with hundreds of high-capacity women in midlife to dismantle the structures that are costing them their health, their joy, and their sense of self, and rebuild around what is non-negotiable for them.
You can renegotiate every rule you were handed. You can come through the fire more precise, more honest, and more free — without making yourself small to do it.
